Newton’s Crumb

Recorded in September of 2007, this show featured local accordionist, band leader and song collector Dan Newton. Dan brought in music by, compiled by or illustrated by Robert Crumb. From Crumb’s 1970’s band The Cheap Suit Serenaders’ to the actual 78 RPM recordings that inspired them. We heard some wonderfully delightful music. As a special treat, Dan also brought in a series of cassette tapes, with the hand written J-Cards, sent to Dan by Crumb. The tapes Dan brought in had great names:

Putting The Cheap Suits To Shame
Shake Your Dogs
Steppin’ Out

    1. The tapes played during the show belong to Dan, and the content is from R Crumbs personel collection. He has been releasing compilation CD’s over the last few years, and that might be your best bet in finding the material.

  1. You are saying crumb is releasing collections or Dan ? I have two crumb cheap suit CDs. Are there more ?
